This draft describes how audio, video,
and text content can be multiplexed together into a single RTP session. This
multiplexing is prohibited by the
RTP specification and the
RTP Profile for Audio and Video Conferences with Minimal Control but
is desired by some in the WebRTC community. Our new draft discusses why it
might be desirable to allow this functionality, and outlines the changes to
the RTP specification needed to enable it. This is an early draft for
discussion at the IETF 84 meeting in Vancouver, and is not yet suitable for
implementation.
This document specifies how an RTP session can contain media streams
with media from multiple media types such as audio, video, and text.
This has been restricted by the RTP Specification, and thus this
document updates 3550 to enable this behaviour for applications
that satisfy the applicability for using multiple media types in a
single RTP session.
