Talk at AFRICOMM 2020
2 December 2020
I gave a talk
at EAI
AFRICOMM - 12th EAI International Conference on e‐Infrastructure and
e‐Services for Developing Countries on 2 December 2020, as part of
a pre-conference event on academia and open Internet standards.
My talk was entitled "At the intersection of research and standards:
an introduction to the IRTF”. I argued that the research and standards
communities both benefit from increased interaction and cooperation,
and highlighted some of the benefits that come from working at the
intersection of research and standards. I introduced the Internet
Research Task Force (IRTF), and emphasised some opportunities the IRTF
provides for researchers to increase the visibility and impact of their
work by engaging with, learning from, and influencing the Internet
standards community.
My slides are available.
