Aberdeen, UK,
April 1998.
The paper gives an introduction and overview of the activities
conducted under the PIPVIC (Piloting IP Videoconferencing) project.
The partner sites – who represent a range of UK Higher Education
Institutions - are using IP multicast conferencing tools to support a
range of collaborative teaching, research and administrative activities
over a period of 5 months. The aim of the project is to understand the
potential issues involved in running a large-scale IP videoconferencing
service, and to document working local set-up and support requirements
for sites using such a service.
