Improving protocol standards at the 31st Multi-Service Networks Workshop

Stephen McQuistin gave a talk about our work to improve protocol
standards at the 31st
Multi-Service Networks Workshop, held on 5 July 2019 at The
Cosener's House in Abingdon.
Stephen's talk was entitled "Parsing Protocol Standards"
(slides). He introduced our work and discussed why it is both
important to be able to generate protocol parsers from standards
documents, and difficult to do. He then reviewed the system we're
developing to define a standard intermediate representation and type
system that can represent protocol data units, along with tooling to
parse IETF RFCs to extract PDUs and generate parsers. This is still
very much work-in-progress, but we hope to make the implementation
available for review in the coming months.
